The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is the arm of Rotary International that
provides the funding to promote world understanding and peace through
humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs. The World Community Service committee of Lake Oswego Rotary Club is
the interface between the club and
The Rotary
Foundation. The encourages club members to
be active contributors to TRF through various programs throughout the
Rotary year. Rotary began a program entitled "Every Rotarian -
Every Year" a few years ago and Rotarians who commit to contributing $100 each year are rewarded with
"Red Wings" to attach to their
Rotary pin to signify their participation.
To date Lake Oswego Rotary has 65% participation. In
addition to the "Every Rotarian - Every Year" program Lake Oswego Rotary
is seeking members who are willing to participate in the
Paul Harris
Society. The Paul Harris Society is open to any one willing to
commit to contributing $1000 to TRF annually. Pledge forms are
available from World Community Service committee members. So far
there are twenty-one Lake Oswego Rotarians in the program. Rotary District 5100 is encouraging more participation
in the Paul Harris Society and is seeking additional ways to
honor those Rotarians who demonstrate this level of generosity. The
Share Program is the method by which Clubs and Districts can access
matching funds for local and international humanitarian projects,
scholarships and programs available from The Rotary Foundation.
Funds from individual clubs and Rotarians are matched at 50% and funds
from individual districts and matched at 100%. |
